Wellness & Preventive Care for Dogs and Cats

Preventive care is the foundation of a long, healthy life for your pet. Regular wellness visits allow us to detect problems early, prevent illness whenever possible, and tailor care to your pet’s age, lifestyle, and individual needs. From their first puppy or kitten visit through their senior years, our goal is to partner with you to keep your pet feeling their best.

Puppy & Kitten Wellness

The first year of life is one of the most important for your pet’s long-term health. Puppies and kittens grow rapidly, and early preventive care helps set them up for a healthy future.

What puppy and kitten wellness includes:

  • Comprehensive physical exams at each visit

  • Age-appropriate vaccinations to protect against serious and contagious diseases

  • Intestinal parasite screening and deworming

  • Flea, tick, and heartworm prevention guidance

  • Microchipping for permanent identification

  • Nutrition, behavior, and training counseling

  • Discussion of spay/neuter timing

Vaccines are given as a series during the first few months of life to safely build immunity. We’ll create a customized schedule and explain each vaccine so you know exactly what your pet is receiving and why.

Adult Wellness

Once pets reach adulthood, annual wellness exams are essential to maintain good health and catch subtle changes before they become major problems.

Adult wellness visits typically include:

  • Nose-to-tail physical examination

  • Core and lifestyle-based vaccinations

  • Annual parasite testing (such as fecal parasite screening and heartworm testing in dogs)

  • Year-round flea, tick, and heartworm prevention recommendations

  • Weight, diet, and exercise evaluation

  • Dental health assessment

  • Behavior and lifestyle discussions

Many illnesses in pets develop quietly. Regular exams help us detect early signs of issues such as dental disease, arthritis, allergies, or internal disease—often before your pet shows obvious symptoms at home.

Senior Wellness

As pets age, their health needs change. Dogs and cats are generally considered seniors around 7 years of age, though this can vary by breed and size.

Senior wellness focuses on:

  • Comprehensive physical exams

  • Monitoring for age-related conditions such as arthritis, heart disease, kidney disease and thyroid disease

  • Routine lab work to screen internal organ function

  • Ongoing vaccination and parasite prevention as appropriate

  • Pain management, mobility, and quality-of-life discussions

  • Nutrition adjustments for aging pets

Senior pets often benefit from wellness visits every 6 months, as health changes can occur more quickly later in life.
